Hi All,

I'm on the hunt for a new reliable, robust dot-matrix printer to produce
invoices on 80-column, 2-ply listing/fanfold paper, for my dad's small
independent business.
It will probably be for light work, say 30 invoices a day at most, and
ideally looking to spend no more than £150.

Being as inkjets now dominate the market, I must admit that I'm not familiar
with the current dot-matrix scene and current technology versus prices.

Could anyone perhaps recommend some units worth looking at, or, even better,
direct me to an on-line source of reviews/comparisons?

Any information is very much appreciated.

Best Regards,

Elliot Johnson

Interesting question since everyone is going on the Inkjet Craze these days.
the Cost for printers on dot matrix printers is much lower per page than for an
Ink jet printer. Bravo for trying. Happened to look at ( a guess)
and that would be a source to look at. My Wife loved her Okidata 393 printer
when she used it for work and if you can find a used one that should work great.
God workhorse printer, very reliable, and will even take wide paper (greeen bar
paper) if needed. Printed hundreds of thousands of 4 ply report cards and has
just been "retired" for a lazer printer at probably 8 to 10 times the supply
costs of the Dot Matrix

have fun

If your looking to spend only $150.00, your only option will be a used
printer.

Most new wide carriage dot matrix printers start around $450.00 or so.

If I was looking for a great dependable used wide carriage dot mattrix
for printing two part invoices:
Okidata Light work duty
(9pin printer: ML321,ML321T) (24pin printer: ML391,ML391T)
Okidata Medium Duty
(9pin printer: ML521) (24pin printer: ML591)
Okidata Heavy Duty
(9pin printer: 3410) (24 pin printer: ML395)

I have a panasonic 24 pin that I'd sell ya but the shipping costs from here (US)
wouldn't make it worth it. Besides it is 120 volt not 230.
Had a friend who just put his out on the trash can on trash day, along with the
manual.... It was gone before the trash was picked up.
