There are a few A3 Printers that are good. Canon 9000 (i think this is the
model no, but some will correct me if i am wrong) , Epson 1290/2100, Hp does
one as well 1220 I think. I use the Epson 1290, and for the price I am
impressed with it and find the photo quality good on it.

HP CP1700 is the best A3 printer. Best for colour. Best for text. Best
for speed. Best for interfaces.

If you are looking for longevity you might consider the Epson 2100, which
uses pigment inks which last far longer than the dye-based inks used in any
other ink-jet printer. Your best bet would be to do an internet search on
the printers mentined in the thread and see what the reviewers have to say
before making a decision.

If you look for photo printer than:
One place with reviews, which seem to have a good reputation among
demanding photographers is: http://www.steves-digicams.com/printers.html
He speaks highly about Epson Photo 2200 and the Canon S9000, which I
use with delight.
Many photographers who publish hardware reviews agree that Canon
is now a serious competitor to Epson in photo printing. For example
Norman Koren htpp://normankoren.com or the Luminous Landscapes
http://luminous-landscape.com/
These both are prime class sources for information. Epson 2200
has separate tanks, like the Canon. It uses pigment inks and one
more color (gray) for a better B/W gradation. But it is slower,
louder and more expensive. I can live with Canon's dye inks,
which endure for some 20 years on a glossy paper and I like it
so far. It is an awesome printer, but check out the Photo 2200
as well.
