I just saw this posted by Reuters, maybe it is old news.

Testing Methodology

Independent tests were conducted by the Image Permanence Institute of the Rochester Institute of Technology and by Wilhelm
Imaging Research. Results were achieved by employing accelerated florescent lightfastness testing when using HP Colorfast
Photo Paper with the HP No. 78 tri-color inkjet print cartridge(2). The HP No. 78 tri-color inkjet print cartridge is used in
the recently announced HP DeskJet 990C and PhotoSmart 1200 series printers among others (see HP press release: "HP's New
Inkjet Printers Deliver True-to-the-original Photo Quality, Fast Printing, Optical Paper Sending, Wireless Printing," Sept.
5, 2000).

The Image Permanence Institute of the Rochester Institute of Technology found HP Colorfast Photo Paper to resist noticeable
fading for up to 26 years under glass, and up to 17 years without glass.

Wilhelm Imaging Research found HP Colorfast Photo Paper to resist noticeable fading for up to 17 years when prints are
displayed framed under glass.

The differences in results are due to somewhat different accelerated light fading test methods and test conditions, as well
as slightly different criteria for determining when noticeable fading has occurred.
