Right now, I'm very frustrated with mine, which I got when I bought a
Gateway computer. After less than two years, the BJC-2000 seems to have
died. Print quality went south so I changed the print cartridges--no
difference. I tried cleaning the print heads--no improvement. I also tried
installing an updated printer driver but the old BJC-2000 just doesn't seem
to want to come back to life. Anyone had a similar experience with this
printer? I'm about ready to junk it for an HP!

2nd reply, please disregard 1st reply sent by mistake :0

The 2000, if all you changed was the ink tanks, then you really need to
get a new print cartridge with printhead and ink tanks together(BC-21 or
21e?). the printhead will fail after several reloads of ink tanks from
wear&tear. You can allow the printhead to soak awhile on a damp cloth or
rigorously clean it, but usually they fail, period. The electronics on
these babies don't last. But consider that print quality, etc. will come
back 100% after the replacement. Look at that way, 2 years is good service
on this botton-end printer offering.

good luck -----Willy

We have experienced 12000 + pages printed on these toys.

I knew this for sure because we have twice reset the same printer. And the
printer just does not want to pass a way. And it is not the only one in the
game. I do not knew how may heads has that user replaced, but if I say a
dozen would not miss a lot.

At last the he leaved us a perfectly working printer for a small bottle of
ink because he could not look at it any more.

The Print Heads on these printers is user changable, every now and then you
need to buy the complete printhead and cartridge kit. the Printheads have a
very short life, however Canon get over this problem by making them easy to
replace, you lift the green lever and lift out the whole assembly. If you
have some new ink cartridges for this printer and you have put them in,
remove from the printhead and seal them in a zip plastic bag until you run
out of ink again. Don't let any of the inks rundry on this printer as this
overheats the relevant section of the printhead causing premature failure.
