laser patchy printing problem

I have a Panasonic 6100 laser printer which is printing lighter in
some areas. I have just refilled it with toner, and have tried shaking
the drum several times to level the toner but it still prints the
same.
If I print a page of text in small print the lighter areas are at each
side of the paper and are at about 2 inch intervals.
