I am having a problem with a HP Deskjet 845c printer with Win2k. My
grayscale images are printing with a blue tint.
I have tried changing various printer software settings and
re-installing the printer and software.
After a couple hours of researching on the net and troubleshooting, I'm
inclined to believe it could be solved by replacing the ink cartridges.
Since this is a little expensive, does anyone have any other last
minute suggestions to try?
Thanks,
Ken
It is probably low ink on the color cartridge. If you are printing grayscale
graphics the color cartridges used, as it gives much better resolution than
the back cartridge. If you are running out of yellow ink the results will be a
blue print.

Bob, This is going to sound flip and I don't mean it to but if you
never told anyone you work for HP no one would know and you would not
have to tell us that you are not speaking for HP in every post. Why
do you do that????
Just my opinion...............

I do that to keep things above board. In the past there have been folks
pretending to be normal customers who where in fact employees (or sales rep's)
for printer manufacturers. This was most blatant a few years ago in a case
where one guy was playing both sides - a gushing customer impressed with a new
printer as well as a helpful sales rep pointing out additional helpful
features. The stuff hit the fan when one day he posted from one account but
signed as the other.... While there has not been quite such as scandal lately,
there are several folks in recent times that post here with strong pro
some_particular_manufacturer stance who are actually employees of
some_particular_manufacturer.
While not so necessary in cases of fact (like "How many nozzles does a HP 41
cartridge have?"), I prefer to have full disclosure where opinion is involved
(like "How good is printer XXX?").
Additionally, I do this on my own time, and I am not sanctioned by HP. I do
not work in the sales or support organizations and should not be considered an
official spokesman.
You were correct. I bought the color cartridge and the printer is now
printing in grayscale. A side piece of advice for new printer shoppers,
consider how much your print cartridges cost to replace! Man, was the
HP color cartridge expensive.
Thanks,
Ken
