I've got a HP51625A color printer cartrige that is sitting around for almost
a year now and I want to refill it. I cracked open the green cap at the top
and then when I look in each hole there is a big sponge in the way. Is it
suppose to be like this or did the sponge expand over time? Or do I poke
through the sponge and inject the ink into the sponge? This cartridge might
be clogged so is there a way to unclog it given that there are sponges in
the way and it is a color cartridge.

Any info greatly appreciated
TIA

Those sponges are what hold the ink.

HP carts must be filled immediately and stored properly, yours will likely
be a waste of time.

If the cartridge head has been exposed to the air for a year, you may as
well throw it away. It will be so dried out it will be impossible to
clear the clogged jets.
