I have one HP 970Cxi deskjet running from one HP 8650c Pavilion PC and I
also need to use this printer with my HP 4100 omnibook laptop PC. What's
the best way to do this? Is there any thing like a USB switch?

The best way is to add a network card to each, then you can share
printers, and drives.

We have a two computer/one printer setup via a printer switch (manual, the
auto switch versions never work right). Though, we do print via parallel
port, I'm not sure if USB switches exist.

Yes, there are USB switch boxes.
