I purchased a Canon BJC-4300ex on Jan 24th 1999 and I am not able to get it
to work.
The self test works. , but I am unable to print a test page.
It prints a page with "^e^e" at the top and then the message "Cannot
detect cartridge type"
I have installed the printer driver many times with no change .

Any ideas as to what may be causing this ??

Look for a file named DRVWPPQT.VXD which should be located in the
Windows\SYSTEM\IOSUBSYS directory. If it is there AND you don't have a
parallel port tape driver, rename the file to DRVWPPQT.OLD.

Insure the print cable is good

And install Canon's v3.95 drivers

This file " DRVWPPQT.VXD " is not on my hard drive anywhere. Is there
something else wrong ??

I Had this problem with a brand new BJC4400. the problem is that my
parallel port cable was not plugged into my MB correctly.

I had a bent pin.
