I've just bought a Canon i850 and am very happy with the speed and photo
quality, but I can't seem to find Canon photo paper anywhere. Do I need to
use Canon paper?? There seems to be a lot of Epson and Kodak paper around.

I have a Canon S820 and I went thru nearly 30 sheets of Kodak Premium High
Gloss Photo Paper and I couldnt get a descent print no matter what my settings
were. Im very happy with Canon Picture Pro though. Best Buy seems to have
plenty of it.

I tried the Kodak paper. It's OK, but not as good as Canon paper. The black
dosen't look good on Kodak paper.

I just tried a few prints on my S820 using Canon Photo Paper Plus Glossy 4x6
and the results were good. Not quite as "professional looking" as the Paper
Pro, but close. Its also about quite a bit less expensive.

So far I've used a lot of different papers in my S820 and got good results
with nearly all of them. Non Canon equivalent papers will need several
different custom settings to get good output. Red River papers have
received excellent marks on this newsgroup. I just received a supply from
them and the first few sheets I've tried came out excellent. The really
great part about Red River is the cost. Red River Ultra Pro Glossy is on
special for $29.99/100 sheets and the satin is $37.50/100. An even better
deal from them is a special purchase called Klondike. I can't tell any
difference in output quality from the Ultra Pro, but the paper (glossy and
satin) are on special at $19.99/100 sheets. The prices are for 8.5x11, not
4x6. They have same day shipping. I have no connection with them other
than being a satisfied customer.
