What are the advantages of having a post script printer?

A couple of things:
1. Consistent output no matter which printer you are printing to (mostly).
2. In my experience, much better-debugged drivers vs. proprietary (e.g.
PCLx) drivers.
3. Better support cross-platform.

Others may have more positives.

I've used Apple Laserwriter drives on Tektronic Wax Transfer printer &
laser with out any problems.

The only problem with postscript printers the print files can get very
large, 1 full page graphic can be 50+ meg.

Pretty much none on a desktop system.
