Does anyone here know how to reset the smart chips on these smart cartridges
so that they indicate a full ink level ?

Or does anyone know the manufacturer of the chips and where it might be
possible to get pin-out and interface specification?

Cheers in advance

Hi,

There are several different methods for resetting the smart chips
depending on your printer model.

Visit here for more information on workarounds:
http://www.netwares.com/epsonchp/chip.htm

If you have one of the newer Epsons, contact me back with the model #
and I'll give you more specifics.

Right now there is nothing for the C-80 (as far as I know).

The 810/820 can be refilled with a chip resetter.

Also the C-50/60.

Cheers & Happy Printing,
Al

Natchers for your honesty. It is a know fact that many people on this site
have no idea waht they are talking about. I just got back from a trade show
and this site was a topic of conversation. We are putting a list of things
to spot the people that are selling product that just won't work Such as
drill & fill toner kits. If you see this advertised on their site beware. It
won't work and they probably have many more snake oil. They are just out to
make a fast buck at your expense. If you call to ask them to show you their
shop they do not resopnd because they don't have one and have never tried to
use their own kit. Bottom line if they won't invite you to their shop for a
demo...beware. Drill and fill was tried 10 years ago and almost killed the
remanufacting process. Wendy .

Who cares, Frankly I'd rather deal
with the drill and fill company than some like
you, who feels so threatened they have to mislead
consumers with half truths.

Is drill and fill the best method to use? Not if you
wish to use the cartridge beyond 1 refill. Drill and
fill does miss potential wear and tear problems so it can
limit the re-usability of a cartridge. But it
is very cheap and some end-users care only about cost.
Obviously fully disassembling the cartridge for proper cleaning
and parts replacement is best, but not always
inexpensive and in some cases not even viable,
and in the final analysis its going to what the consumer
is willing to pay that will determine the methods they choose to use.

B. What's this let you come by and see their shop crap?
I run an internet based business, not brick and mortar,
what shop am I supposed to show them? I use distributors
and co-manufacturers to supply products, which shop should
I send them to? This gives me the advantage of running the office
out of my home...no traffic, no high rent, no headaches. Instead
of inviting them to "my store"...I invite them to call and talk to me
(800 numbers are so nice) which many do AND I try to participate
constructively on newsgroups, forums, etc...(HINT, HINT). I get
many more customers from around the world with accurate information
than with building tours.

BTW...Drill and Fill method originated almost 20 years ago (1984)
and for a few years was the only way to refill cartridges since
there were no other replacement components other than toner.
You know why I know...I was there from the very beginning and
have watched the entire industry evolve.
