To reset the ink level, this worked for me on a 930C,
should work for all C6578 carts....
Lid up.
Colour cartridge out.
Cartridge upright, contacts facing you, tape over the 4 top right vertical
contacts (i.e in a column as it were).
- something like this:
. . X
. . X
. . X
. . X
. .
. .
. .
. .
. .
. .
. .
Reinsert Cartridge.
Shut lid and wait 3 seconds before lifting lid.
When cartridge reappears, remove it again.
Remove tape and replace it only covering the 2 top right vertical contacts.
- something like this:
. . X
. . X
. . .
. . .

. .
. .
Reinsert Cartridge.
Shut lid and wait 3 seconds before lifting lid.
When cartridge reappears, remove it again.
Remove tape completely, make sure contacts are clean.
Reinsert cartridge.
If successful you will see that the printer thinks you've put a brand new
cartridge in because it will perform a calibration with the blue flashing
lights inside.
Ink status now reads full.
If this doesn't work you may have to tape over different contacts in the
same column, I tried other people's methods and they didn't work with my
colour cartridge. I think something mysterious may be going on here
depending on the signature of the actual cartridge in use..
For the black 51645 I've only used the other recommended method of taping
the 4 top left vertical contacts first, then the 4 top right vertical
contacts, and then with none covered. This worked fine for black but did
not work with colour in my case.
A simpler method if you have 3 cartridges is to rotate the 3 carts in a
similar fashion to above. The third cart will be reset to full level.
