My black ink cartridge has ran dry and I was wondering if it's possible
to use the colour cartridge to print black until I get around to

Hi,
No, it's not - but you probably already found that out. Find a refill
vendor in the UK and refill. Then you won't have to worry about
replacing the cartridges and you'll save money besides.
