I live at a resort and have a lot of clients who have purchased inkjet
printers but don't use them for months at a time. What is the best way to
store an Epson type printer (with separate ink tanks and printhead) and an
HP type printer (with the printhead built into the ink cartridge)?

These people come back to town, and after running a dozen head cleanings
they wind up having to replace the cartridges on their HPs, and we don't
know what to do with the Epsons.

Thanks.

Long term storage of inkjets is a problem for all manufacturers because of
nozzle clogging. Try this for the HP cartridges... Remove the cartridges
and place them in an air-tight container (e.g. Tupperware or heavy-duty
zip-loc bag). Also put a wet paper towel in the container to keep the
humidity high. Do not let the cartridge nozzle plate touch the towel or
anything else. Do not put tape over the nozzles. This seems to work for a
few weeks at a time...

Hi,

I just turn mine off using the power button and place a plastic sheet over
the whole thing. Obviously make sure the printer isn't standing next to a
heating system. Hmm I never had this 'head-clog' problem myself?
