I have been having a problem with the Epson Status Monitor and Windows XP.
Quite often when I plug my Epson Stylus Photo 780 into the USB port, (I
generally have an HP printer plugged in for everyday use) and attempt to
print some pictures, the Status Monitor will come up with a communications
error. The image files will still print fine. Turning the printer on and off
will generally not clear up the problem. Very often I have to restart XP
with the printer plugged in and on to get it to pick it up and then,
sometimes, I will still get the error message. Any suggestions? Thanks,

I think it has to do with Epson's USB drivers. I have WinXP and an HP USB
printer also. I also have three other USB devices that I use occasionally.
MY Epson Stylus Photo 785EPX is the only device plugged in permanently, and
its Status Monitor sometimes gives me the same message, usually after I have
used another USB device; even like loading some pictures from my camera.
It's like the Epson driver thinks it has lost the USB connection. Usually it
prints fine even with the error warning. After using and unplugging another
USB device, the error message goes away on the second print job. I guess we
have to wait for the next driver revision?
Please let me know if you find a solution.
