I'm new to this group. I've searched but not found what I'm looking
for. Hoping someone can help me. My problem is this: I have been
refilling the carts in my printer, usually successfully. The other
day I thought the color printout looked a little blurry, and I decided
to clean the contacts on the 78 cart and on the cart holder in the
printer. I used alcohol. This has worked for me in the past to get
rid of a ghost image.
However, what happened is that the "Print Cartridge Status Light"
started blinking, and it keeps blinking. I have tried everything. I
finally resorted to buying a new HP cartridge. When I put it in the
printer, much to my surprise, the light kept on blinking. Looks like
I have a problem with my printer all of a sudden. It's been a good
printer and I've really had no major problems with it to date.
Is there anything I can do to solve this one?
Thanks!
Tom.
An electronic reset is performed when any mechanical issue is
not involved or has been resolved (such as a paper jam) but
the printer continues to display an error message or blinking
lights.
Isolate the printer by disconnecting the USB/parallel
cable.
Remove the cartridges as well as any paper in the paper
tray.
Reset the printer memory by disconnecting the unit power
cable while the printer is turned on.
Wait for 30 seconds, then reconnect the power cable.

I actually ran across that procedure earlier today in searching past
archives. Tried it...no luck. Tried it again, because you added "as
well as any paper in the paper tray"...which I did not see in the
earlier procedure. However, again, no luck. I seem to be dead in the
water!
But, thanks anyway,
Tom.
