Spam from this newsgroup

Is there a name for a fake posting intended only to get e-mail addresses? I
seem to have picked up a lot of spam since posting in this group.

You can pick up spam from posting in any newsgroup if you dont protect
yourself. Try putting in a fake return e-mail address and/or (if you intend
on receiving responses via e-mail) put something in your address and note in
your signature line that your address is deliberately incorrect.

Something like mailadress_at_domain_dot_com or something like that (instead
of maila...@domain.com). There are countless spiders zooming about the
newsgroups on a 24-hour basis just extracting your mail addresses for
useless spam.
