I have two Epson Color Printers, each with its own problem.

The magenta section of the color print head on the Epson Stylus Color
has clogged. I have been able to disassemble the printer and force
several solutions through it, windex, hot water, vinegar, but nothing
seems to dissolve whatever is causing the clog.

Any ideas?

After replacing the color cartridge on the Epson Color Stylus IIS the
printer indicates that the printer is still out of ink and refuses to
print. Aside from removing and reinstalling the print head/cartridge
assembly, the manual does not offer any suggestions.

Any ideas?

Thanx

First of all, if you are forcing solutions such as windex or hot tap water
through the printhead, you have most likely made any problematic situation
in the printhead worse. See the messages that I have posted regarding the
ESC printers earlier this week. Another thing, if you do too much "forcing"
of solutions into the printhead itself, you will most likely damage the
printhead, the electronics on the back of the printhead, or the crystal
which makes the entire piezoelectric principle work.

First, make sure you are replacing the cartridge with the printhead/carrier
unit INSIDE the printer, do not remove the cartridge from the carrier when
the carrier is not in the printer. The carrier unit must be snapped in the
printer when the cartridge is removed in order for the printer to recognize
the swap. If you are doing this, then the only thing I can recommend is
performing a system reset (usually performed by holding ALT and RESET until
all of the lights on the printer turn on).

Not a good idea to mix vinegar with inkjet ink...it sets the ink!

Follow these steps:
1- Lift the cover of the printer so that you may see inside
2- Press the pause button to turn on the pause light
3- Press and hold the Alt button until the printhead moves to the install
position.
4- Lift the cover over the printhead. The cartridge will lift up but: DO
NOT REMOVE THE INK CARTRIDGE.
5- Press and immediately release the Alt button to allow the printer to
initialize.

If the above procedure does not resolve the issue follow these steps:

IIs Reset
1-Turn your printer off and disconnect the interface cable from the back of
the printer.
2- While printer is off press the ALT and PAUSE buttons.
3- Continue to hold the above buttons for 3 seconds after
the printer is turned back on.
4- Release the ALT and PAUSE buttons. (the error light will be solid)
5- Hold down on the load eject button until the PAUSE and ECONOMY lights
begin flashing.
6- Press and immediately release the PAUSE button. This will allow the
printer to initialize as normal and it should print after the
initialization process is complete.

Well, that finally did work for me..the 2nd part of the solution
that is....but the printing is like ...the bottom part of the line is dark
and as you go up the letter it gets lighter...what do i do about
that??????? then some of the sentences are light gray and the
bottom of the sentence is white the same color as the paper.
Thank you for at least getting the printing process started.
