IEEE1284=beware

Beware/ It seems that the IE# applies to the cable not the
fitting(connectors) attached to the cable.
I bought a cable of the IE1284 type took it home and found that One end did
not fit my brand new HP812C printer. Took back to Radio Shack and they
exchange it. So beware.
So beware novices.

No, IEEE-1284 describes the connectors in minute detail, including
mechanical drawings.

There are three different connectors that can go on each end of the
cable. HP is increasingly using the IEEE-1284 type C connector.

For an IEEE-1284 cable with connector types A and C?
