I have a new HP printer with lots of options for paper size except A7 -
it shows A5 and A6 but that's it. A7 is essentially two 5x7 sheets
together - the page is 7"x10". I went through a ton of invitations
trying to center the text and it still didn't look good. The papers
listed, beside the obvious, include ofuku hagaki, Japanese postcard, and
L. Any ideas as to what these terms mean? HP support was useless. Anyone
else able to print A7 paper?

My Canon printer hasn't a A7 option in the printer driver either.
I don't think A7 is 7 X 10 inches .... more like 3 X 4 inches.
I would hope there is a "custom" item in the list of sizes, and if you
select that, it would give you the opportunity to specify width &
height measurements.
Hope this helps

DCohen <DCohen...@no.email.invalid> was inspired to say

Hi Diane

Paper sizes (and certainly the A5 & A6 on the HP printer) are given in
ISO standards: see:-
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_216
or
http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~mgk25/iso-paper.html

For situations as you are trying, I invariably end up using a larger
(standard) paper size and cutting down afterwards.

I'd be interested to know where your definition of A7 comes from.

Sorry I can't help more.

Mike

Diane
See http://www.papersizes.org/a-paper-sizes.htm
DIN 476 sizes are shown there. A7 is an A6 sheet cut in half parallel to its
shorter sides, this rule applies to all ISO paper sizes.
It looks like you will need to use A4 and cut it down unless the driver for
your printer supports custom sizes (that will need to be set in the printer
properties if available).

"ofuku hagaki" (往復葉書) is a two-sided or "return" (oufuku) Japanese
postcard (hagaki) which is 148mm high and 100mm wide. It is usually not
a very high quality paper/card, so different from usual Japanese
postcard (hagaki) or inkjet versions (inkjet hgagaki) or other versions
(photo hagaki, for example) that can be seen in Japanese printer
options.

L, 2L, KG and others are standard sizes of Japanese photos. There are
plenty of others. Often these differ in very small ways from
similarly-named US sizes (e.g., 4x6 versus 4x6US).

L: 127mm high, 89mm wide (3.5x5 inches) ratio 1.429
2L: 178mm high, 127mm wide (5x7inches) ratio 1.400
KG: 102mm high, 152mm wide (4x6 inches) ratio 1.500

Other photo media in Japan that will be found on printer options:

Daizenshi: 508x610mm (20x24in) ratio 1.200
Zenshi: 457x560mm (18x22in) ratio 1.222
A3+: 329x483mm (13x19in) ratio 1.462
(called "A3 nabi" in Japanese)
Han-kiri: 356x432mm (14x17in) ratio 1.214
Yotsu-kiri:
354x305mm (10x12in) ratio 1.200
Roku-kiri wide:
203x305mm (8x12in) ratio 1.500
Roku-kiri: 203x254mm (8x10in) ratio 1.250
Hagaki: 148x100mm ratio 1.480

For interest, there are also L, S and M sizes for non-photo media (calendars):

S: 820mm high, 730mm wide
M: 1000m high, 730mm wide
L: 1200mm high, 800mm wide
