Hey, I've been reading a bunch of the posts about the compatible
cartridges for the Epson 820 but it seems like a bunch of them are
people selling their own items (not that that's bad, but it's not the
view I'm looking for). Does anyone have experience with replacement
cartridges (are they good, do they clog, does the ink run, etc) for
high quality photos and if so, which ones are the best. I know there
are a bunch of vendors that sell them for very cheap (megatoners.com,
00inkjets.com, the uk-based site), but are they reputable? Any help
would be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,

If you are very "fussy" I suggest you stay with OEM unless you are a
really heavy user. I say that not because of the inks in the compatible
cartridges (like the ones we carry) but because often the papers are a
problem. Epson has done a good job of matching their papers to their ink
as do most other printer mnanufacturers. If you are willing to change
papers if necessary or to tweak your CMS or profiles, then compatibles
and even refills will work for you. And save you a LOT of "moula".

If you are lazy and/or a major fuss budget - stick with OEM.

Alternative: try some compatibles but don't go "cheap" and stay away
from auctions (ebay) and shows. Most reputable vendors like myself (of
course) will guarantee their products. Try them.

Cheers & Happy Printing,
Al
