SCSI Card for Umax 1220S on Windows XP

I have recently upgraded to a 1.9 GHz computer running XP and wish to
connect my Umax 1220S scanner to it. I recently purchased a Adaptec 2906
SCSI card. Does anyone have any experience with a particular card for this
set up?

The 2906 card ought to work fine. XP supports it directly.

You will need to add ASPI from
http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/support/suppdetail.html?prodkey=ASPI-4.70
because XP does not install ASPI.

Then you have choices.

The 1220S will work from the Twain interface of any Twain program using the
XP WIA driver. Interface is minimal, but it should work.
This is actually as far as I have gone with the 1220S and XP.

Or you might want to see the www.umax.de German site.
They have extendend notes and an update for using VistaScan 3.55 with XP.
Bottom half of that 1220S page is in English.

Or you can use VueScan with it, from www.hamrick.com

This was excellent advice. I installed the card and XP recognized it
directly. After rebooting and installing ASPI, XP recognized the 1220S. I
then downloaded the XP update to the VistaScan software and everything works
well.

I have a 1220S and it works with every SCSI card that i ever cabled up
to it (except for USB converters) including a S160 card.
