Can't get an answer from WindRiver. What is the minimum and typical size of the 6.9 kernel? With 5.x you could expect 65 to 85K for a fully stripped image but is that the same for 6.x?

Got the answer myself <80KB minimal. Typical is still a question for ARM based embedded device configuration where a main OS will run the GUI, network, and file system and VxWorks is a hosted process that handles RTOS tasks

Even better hard numbers from WR:

What is the footprint (memory size and other hardware requirements) for VxWorks for a minimal configuration where a main OS will run the GUI, network, and file system and VxWorks is a hosted process that handles RTOS tasks?

A minimal VxWorks 6.9 ARM kernel will be approximately 500KB, possibly as low as 350KB.

A VxWorks 6.9 ARM kernel that includes standard components like a network stack, file system, standard I/O, etc. will be approximately 900KB. Add approximately another 200KB to 250KB for GUI graphics, or only about 50KB for a web server interface.
