How could I configure gigabit ethernet NIC to half-duplex mode. The
machine is Pentium 4 and uses PCI bus. I would also like to know the
answer for 100 ethernet NIC on Pentium 3 machine, if the answer is
different.

Thanks,
Tarun

Hello,

It's nice to have an option to switch duplex mode in END LOAD_ STRING but it
doesn't. Unless you have gei END driver source code, you have to stick to
the default duplex mode that is full duplex.

Hi Friends,
I also need informarion regarding configuring the intel 8255 NIC
card to 10Mbs or 100Mbs, half or full duplex. My VxWorks image for
pcPentium uses Intel 82559 driver support over corresponding ethernet
card and I assume by default it is configured as 100Mbps, full duplex.
I would like to know
if there is any register setting or Macros available for desired
configuration
in my image.
Any information would be appreciated...
thanks in advance,

_mjcse.

My previous answer for the similar question which I answered while ago
was incorrect. You should be able to do this kind of generic operation
for PHY by miiLib, though the man page of miiLib or VNPG aren't
kind enough to guide you.

If you want to configure your NIC to half-duplex during network
initialization, then find where miiPhyInit gets called. It depends on
driver/BSP implementation where it is called - sometime hardware
NIC initialization module named sys*.c in the BSP directory or
its END driver.

See the man page of miiPhyInit for more detail.
