Clearcase volumes are really database images,
not directories and files, thus the name VOB for
version object base. Even if you mount these
across Solaris machines and the second machine
does NOT have clearcase, you cannot view the 'files'
(or any other vob object) in the database.
We ran into a similar problem here where people
were trying to rsh boot targets from vob objects, only
to find they did not have an active view from the
point of the target. I am sure there are work arounds,
but they will be non-standard and they will require
effort on your part.
