i have used datagram (UDP) socket to implement a simple client sever
communication
system . i can send the less the 1400 bytes to the sever , but if i try to
send more than 1400 bytes i am not
getting error , but data won't reach to the server side . Please help me to
find the exact reason . is it the stack level problem or the BSP .
Regards,
girish
You may be exceeding the MTU of your network or some intermediate network.

VxWorks TCP/IP protocol stack can split large buffer correctly according my
experience.

Girish
I am not sure but may be its just bcoz 1400 is the MTU configured in the ur
machine and some machine in betwn ur client and server has MTU lesser than this
eventually discarding these packets.

I read your mail on VxW newsgroup.
I suspect that the total packet size exceeded the MTU
of the outgoing interface / one
of the intermediate link's MTU. This should result in
fragmentation. Because of some reason
(Either Don't fragment flag is set / other reasons)
fragmentation could not occur.
Can you provide more info?
I want to know:
1. The exact data size after which your data did not
reach the server
2. The type of the link through which the client and
server are connect (Ethernet / PPP/other)
3. MTU of the outgoing interface through which the
client sent out the data.
