Each December, the top 15 contestants in bareback riding, steer wrestling, team roping, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, barrel racing and bull riding qualify to compete at the Wrangler NFR. During the 10 days of competition, the Wrangler NFR transforms the look and feel of the "Entertainment Capital of the World." Thousands of rodeo enthusiasts decked out in Wrangler jeans, Justin boots and cowboy hats fill hotels, casinos, restaurants, shopping malls and showrooms. In addition, hotel marquees are splashed with the names of the brightest stars in country music.

Brings together the pinnacle 15 contestants in seven rodeo occasions: bareback riding, steer wrestling, group roping, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, barrel racing, and bull riding.
The first competition of the 2023 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo starts today, December 5, 2023 at the South Point Arena. The top 15 Breakaway ropers will run the first five head of calves on the quest to determine the World Champion.

Records have already been broken with Shelby Boisjoli Meged coming in ranked number one with $164,549 in earnings. Hali Williams will be debuting in her first WNFR ranked second and will be shooting for every round. The top duo is separated by just $17,806. Williams is the daughter of Hall of Fame cowboy Speed Williams who brings the experience of 15 trips to the WNFR himself along with 8 consecutive world titles. No doubt having this kind of support in your corner will help Williams in her first finals.
The remaining field of 13 ropers includes ropers such as reigning World Champion Martha Angelone and multiple time World Champion Jackie Hobbs Crawford. The action will be fast and furious with the cowgirls competing for $250,000 in prize money.
The sport of breakaway has exploded the last few years thanks to the combined efforts of the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association and the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association.
