HI,
I have an ultra10 that comes with two IDE internal
ST39120A dirves. I try to install solaris 2.8.
I boot from cdrom "ok>boot cdrom -s" and try
to repartition and run format on each disk. I get:
"cannnot format this drive. use manaufacturer supplied
utility". I think that there should be an easy way to do this.
Please help.
Jim

Are you sure that you need to format? Perhaps "mkfs" is what you want to
do instead. Check the man page, but I think the "format" command is for
a low-level format.

When you install Solaris8 using the installation CD, it will ask you if you
want to format the disk or not...
That should do the trick.
