November 17th, 2013 / 2:34pm With your Samsung friend on a sense rom, have her enable a hotspot on her phone with the single press of a button from the status bar and connect multiple pc's via wifi to it granting all of them internet access, or show off the multitasking/windows switching options of both HALO and PIE, or the ability to invert most apps with the push of a button in PAC-man, ability to control resolution per app, or overclock your kernel for extended speed, etc. It's hard trying to show someone how much more potential an unlocked and rooted android device has when they're satisfied with the eye candy of sense on a device that, for now, doesn't cause any lag. The facts stand however that a phone running AOSP will be better on battery and options and the only thing sense has going for it is glamour... At the cost of battery Even HTC admitted that their gui is a memory/battery hog doe it's no secret.
Not to dog sense any further, but if visual effects is what you want in a rom, then sense is definitely the way to go. For performance and everything else, AOSP is the route.

August 6th, 2013 / 5:20am Actually... we just said heck with it and used the CM10.1 procedure above. It apparently worked... we are on Tron-2.2 on our phone. However, good and bad. When it started up it was using 'Nova Launcher'. This was good 'except' it had two dialog windows that would NOT go away. One was red and asking if we would like to 'import', the other was blue and asked if we would like to 'restore' our setting from previous. Well, this was our first time soooo... 'we don thin so'. Finally found if we 'long pressed' on them we got the option to remove. Which we did.
