International Conference on Mobile, Ubiquitous & Pervasive Computing
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

18th - 19th December 2006

Visit: http://www.vit.ac.in/obcom2006/home.asp

Organized
by
School of Computing Sciences
Vellore Institute of Technology
Deemed University
Vellore-632 014, Tamilnadu, India

About the Conference
----------------------------------

This International Conference is a major event to be conducted
following the grand success of series of ObCom conferences during 2003
and 2004, which were audited by a good number of participants from
Academia and Industry across the World. The past ObCom conferences
received good contributions from academia, industry and research
organizations. Our sponsors included governmental and non-governmental
agencies like DRDO, ISTE, DIT, CSIR etc.

With the fast changing technologies and customer-driven product
development in the arena of wireless communication and mobile
computing, the researchers and design engineers have to cope up with
the fast changing end-users' requirement, drastically reduced
time-to-market and globalization. The above complexities can be handled
and managed with the increased use of objects and components based
software development. Handheld devices, smart places, wearable
computing and disappearing computing phenomenon are diversifying and
increasingly becoming an integral part of our everyday and working
lives. It is very apt to have this years' theme of ObCom as
"Mobile, Ubiquitous & Pervasive Computing". The theme would focus
on what are the challenges and issues while designing and building the
new spectrum of human-computer interfaces prevalent in Mobile,
Ubiquitous & Pervasive Computing. The main aim of this conference is to
bring experts, researchers, faculty and students together to discuss
about the technological advancements.

The Program
-------------------
Day 1
Workshops, Tutorials, Keynote Address and Paper Presentations
Day 2
Keynote Address, Technical Sessions and Paper Presentations

Topics of Interest
--------------------------

The technical sessions of the conference will consist of original
papers reporting on theoretical and experimental research, development
etc. The topics of interest include the following and any other related
topics:

· Architectures, protocols, and algorithms to cope with mobility,
limited bandwidth, or intermittent connectivity
· Applications and services for mobile users
· Distributed systems aspects of mobile computing
· Mobile ad-hoc networks
· wireless sensor networks
· Performance of mobile and wireless networks and systems
· Wireless multimedia systems
· Wireless E-business
· Algorithms and protocols for power management and control
· Implementations and experimental mobile systems
· Integration and internetworking of wired and wireless networks
· Modeling and simulation aspects of mobile networks
· Operating system and middleware support for mobile computing and
networking
· Security, privacy, and fault-tolerance of mobile/wireless systems
· Service creation and management environments for mobile/wireless
systems
· Database and data management issues in mobile computing
· Natural Languages for pervasive computing
· Pervasive computing for Automotive electronics

Call for Papers
------------------------

Authors are invited to submit full papers presenting new research
related to the theory or practice of Mobile, Ubiquitous & Pervasive
Computing. Submitted manuscripts may not exceed 12 single-spaced pages
of text using 12-point size type on 8.5x11 inch pages. References,
figures, tables, etc. may be included in addition to the twelve pages
of text. Submissions will be judged on correctness, originality,
technical strength, significance, quality of presentation, interest and
relevance to the conference attendees. Submitted papers may not have
appeared in or be considered for any other conference.

Submit the completed paper at obco...@vit.ac.in or
obco...@gmail.com along with Rs. 300/- Demand Draft in favor of

the Silicon Valley of the South Asia). Its campus, spread over 250
acres on the Ranipet-Katpadi Road, facilitating easy access to Ranipet,
a well-known industrial centre, provides an ideal environment for both
study and industrial interaction. The nearest airport is Chennai, 2 ½
hours drive away. Bangalore airport is at 3 hours drive from VIT. You
