You can use the 'mkisofs' utility to create the image, and use another
OS to actually write the disc. mkisofs is downloadable from
ftp://ftp.qnx.com/usr/free/qnx4/gnu/

Has anyone used the mkisofs utility? I've tried it a few times and have
never been successful with even getting the utility to create an image.

I created the image once, but had no tool to write it to CDR.

We use it all the time. Sorry I can't give the version, the machine is
in another building and is currently running that other (non RT) OS
(probably burning CD's ...)

Yes, with no problems at all, but it's suitable for non bootable CD's only.
Have you install and read man pages for mkisofs?

Would you be able to post the command line parameters you used to make the image?
Thanx,

I walked through this in here a while back. Basically, the mkisofs
will create an ISO9660 filesystem image, and it supports El Torito,
but the problem is that the QNX boot image has no order of
execution, and also no 'waitfor', or 'sleep'. So if you have, say,
Fsys.eide, and Iso9660fsys, and then want sinit to access the shell,
sysinit, etc... from the CD-ROM Filesystem, there is no guarantee
that the filesystem will be setup before you try to access it. You cannot
put these utils on the CD-ROM floppy image, because El Torito works
within the BIOS, and Fsys.floppy is not a BIOS based driver.

If you create a CD-ROM that ships with a boot floppy that mounts the
CD-ROM from within the sysinit, this will work.

Depending on your need, there is the option of a Custom Engineering
solution through your QNX Sales Rep.

You don't have to run the default sinit/sysinit -- you can write
your own custom "sinit" utility that does check appropriate
timing and stuff. There are, I think, samples of doing this
in some of the embedded toolkit stuff.
