I am working (as a hobby) on a free operating system, that looks very
similar to QNX6. It is for x86 only, the microkernel and task manager are
100% assembly (NASM). About 70% of required system calls are implemented by
now, and a couple of taskman's message handlers as well. There are some
parts of libc, console resource manager and ATA/IDE resource manager. No
file system manager yet.
Would people be interested in hacking for RadiOS? I see many challenging
possibilities here, for example, an unified block device driver framework,
or networking protocol similar to QNet/FLEET (currently RadiOS can't do
message passing via network, only locally), or porting some useful tool
to it (like OpenWatcom :)
If you're interested - join the mailing list radios-...@lists.sf.net.
I would be glad to answer the questions and hear your suggestions.
Thanks, 73!
