I'm a QNX newbie, so thanx for any help.

I'm using QNX4 on a PII. I need to test the serial com ports that are
externally looped around ser1 to ser2.

Doing "Dev.ser &" gets me /dev/ser1 and /dev/ser2. Do I need to mount them
also? How? Can I just open them in a C program with a File pointer or handle
and then write to ser1 and read from ser2?

Thanx.

No. After Dev.ser runs the ports are avialable for use.

Yes or use the qtalk terminal program...

qtalk -m /dev/ser1
qtalk -m /dev/ser2

You need to check that handshaking is off, or that at least the ports and software agree on the
handshaking. Use stty to set the ports to the same protocols. You can then just use cp to move a
file from one port to the other, i.e.

cp /dev/ser2 /junk &
cp /myfile /dev/ser1
slay cp
cat junk
....and you should see myfile on screen.
Hope this helps.
