I run RealFlex SCADA systems over QNX 4.24 for an oil company in Brazil.
One of these systems, a 6-nodes one, every now and again becomes slower than
acceptable.
After running netinfo on all of then, I got the following error messages:

On node #1:
Date Net (Nid|Status) Code Description
00:18:02 0 ( 49) NET (rvs) vid was zero
00:18:02 0 ( 48) NET (ivs) vid was zero
00:18:07 1 Status 3 ( 23) NET failed proc _vc_attach msg

On node #2:
Date Net (Nid|Status) Code Description
05:41:36 1 Status 3 ( 24) NET failed proc _vc_attached msg
15:55:14 1 (141) ARC (irq) reconfiguration

On node #3:
Date Net (Nid|Status) Code Description
15:11:58 1 Status 3 ( 24) NET failed proc _vc_attached msg
19:14:24 1 (141) ARC (irq) reconfiguration

On node #4:
Date Net (Nid|Status) Code Description
21:44:11 1 Status 3 ( 24) NET failed proc _vc_attached msg
00:00:40 1 (141) ARC (irq) reconfiguration

On node #5:
Date Net (Nid|Status) Code Description
08:56:39 1 Status 3 ( 24) NET failed proc _vc_attached msg
00:00:38 1 (141) ARC (irq) reconfiguration

On node #6:
Date Net (Nid|Status) Code Description
08:38:55 1 Status 3 ( 24) NET failed proc _vc_attached msg
15:55:09 1 (141) ARC (irq) reconfiguration

I'm quite sure there's something wrong on node #3.

/etc/config/netmap on all nodes seem to be O.K.:

1 1 t1
2 1 t2
3 1 t3
4 1 t4
5 1 t5
6 1 t6

/etc/config/sysinit.# Net lines too:

Net -n6 &
Net.arcnet -l1 &

Does anybody have any ideas ?

If not

That a good assumption:

I don't have much experience with Arcnet, but
I would look at a faulty piece of hardware, possible
cabling.

To be sure, swap the network card in a different machine.
If the problem follow the card, you know it's the card.
If the problem stays in node 3, maybe a flaky powersupply.

If not then try swapping cable.

Hey !

The file /etc/config/netmap for all Nodes is ok.

But use in the files /etc/config/sysinit.# :

Net &
Net.arcnet -l1 -v &
netmap -f

and on one Node:

nameloc &

I think you have probleme with the irqs of the networkcards, use
Net.arcnet with option -v to see the value.
I hope you use Arcnet as a STAR-topology.
You can use the command "netinfo" to get informations from
the status of the network.

What kind of hubs are you using?

I seem to recall that passive hubs are VERY touchy about the cabling being
exactly perfect.
