I am new to setting up os2 -- have a system that had a disk failure
and the os2 was used to run a chromatography system off of com1.
Thought I would "simply" put in a new disk and reload. HD is an IBM
8.4 G -- and system would load, but not boot. OK -- got the
idedasd.exe file and made a new disk 1 as told -- replacing the
os2dasd with the dasd16 and renaming (disk is formatted as FAT32 -- so
should I have used DASD32?)-- also replaced IBM1FLPY.ADD and
IBM1S506.ADD on the disk. Loaded os2 -- no errors (changed first line
in config.sys) -- but system still hangs upon booting -- no errors are
listed, but if I use boot manager -- then get error message that disk
is not partitioned. (I had used FDISK to partition into a boot
manager partition, a primary partition of 4g and a logical drive of
same size). Someone on the storage newsgroup suggested that I could
only use 1047 cylinders in primary. Is this correct? Is there a way
around this -- what about the dani drivers -- and if so, I need
straightforward directions to using the dani drivers. Also -- why are
there all these other files with idedasd? Should I be using some of
these?

Thanks for any help.

Why would you format an OS/2 partition in FAT32? that may be your
problem, along with a partition type that the older versions of boot
manager (fdisk) won't recognize

Sorry -- was not clear -- disk was initially formatted as a FAT32 --
then partition with the OS2 FDISK -- one that came from a newer update
-- into two equal partitions of approx 4G -- the primary is then
formatted as HPFS -- sut in loading seems to reformat, again as HPFS
-- so I presume the partition is not recognized?

I have a passport advantage account for warp 4.
I registered following the instructions that ibm sent, and I have the userID
and password.
I can sign in (http://www.ibm.com/support/us/) accepts my password but I can
not find from here any of the DD.

The basic question is how to get stuff from Software Choice

http://service.boulder.ibm.com/asd-bin/doc/en_us/catalog.htm

The id and password are different. In the pass with the Software Choice
subscription you could enter here without problems. Then when they discontinue
that type of account and replace it with the PA everything change. I sent a
couple of e-mails to ibm without success. I'll keep trying.
