I am tring to build a new P4 or AMD system that is capible of running
Warp3. The system will be running an analalytical software suite
specifically designed for OS/2. I would like to have to ability to
install a dual OS with OS/2 and Win2k or XP, but that is not really
necessary right now. I am most concerned about which MB I should use,
specifically concerning OS/2's sensitive memory issues >64MB. I am
famililar with the HD limitations of OS/2 and the fixes that exist for
>8.4G hard drives... but my OS/2 experience ends there. Any
recommendations would be appreciated.

Currently we are using Warp3 w/ FP40.

That's means you now have Warp4 w/ FP 12 or 15 (I forget exactly how the
Warp3 FPs match the Warp4 FPs.) A P4 should work fine with that. The
issue will actually be the motherboard, not the CPU chip, and I'm having
the same problem as you: I'm nor sure what will work. The "plain
vanilla" mobo with AMD Duron 800 Mhz (equivalent to a 1GHz P4, roughly)
and VIA integrated video chipset works fine with OS/2 Warp 4/FP15. But
the integrated sound does _not_ work There is a driver that is supposed
to cure this, but I haven't tried it yet. Also, I haven't done anything
with the USB ports on it, so can't say how well the OS/2 drivers work
with it. I added an ethernet card, but as it happens it was DLink with
revisosn for which no OS/2 driver exists. that card will be put into a
new box I'm building, and another card will be bought for the OS/2 box.

Do a serach for "OS/2 compatible hardware" - there are several sites
that provide useful information.
