Porting ALSA?

Hello all.
I was browsing Sourceforge recently and thinking about video/audio
editors. Seems that many of them (and not only those, also many other
programs like emulators and stuff like this) use ALSA libraries to
support audio.
I know that Uniaud is written after ALSA, so I was wondering if we
could port the ALSA libraries somehow. Maybe someone of us know ALSA
under Linux and can say something about it?
