This is a Call For Votes (CFV) for the creation of
comp.dcom.lans.token-ring.

Instructions on casting votes is mentioned towards the middle of this post.

DISCUSSION

A Request For Discussion (RFD) for the group comp.dcom.lans.token-ring
was issued on March 11th. A 2nd and 3rd RFD was issued on 18th & 25th
March respectively. The group's name and charter where accepted.

STATUS

comp.dcom.lans.token-ring will be an unmoderated group.

CHARTER

comp.dcom.lans.token-ring (unmoderated) will be a newsgroup to discuss
Token-Ring networks. Discussion topics include :-
* Installation/Configuration
* Problem solving/Trouble shooting
* Bridges and Routers
* 3rd party suppliers (ie. Not IBM) (Clarification - This does not exclude
discussion of IBM equipment/software etc.)

VOTING

The voting period will begin when this CFV is posted. It will end
on May 10, 1993 at 23:59 AEST. According to the USENET rules, in
order for the group to be created, at least 2/3 of the votes cast
must be YES votes, and there must be at least 100 more YES votes
than NO votes.

The contents of the message should contain the line "I vote
for/against comp.dcom.lans.token-ring as proposed". Email mes-
sages sent to the above address must constitute unambiguous and
unconditional votes for/against newsgroup creation as proposed.
Conditional votes will not be accepted. Votes emailed to
the above address will be counted; mailed replies to this post-
ing will be automatically forwarded.

In the event that more than one vote is placed by an individual,
only the most recent vote will be counted.

Please include your full name if your mailer doesn't do this for you.

Three additional CFV's will be posted during the course of the
vote, along with acknowledgments of those votes received to date.
No information will be supplied as to how people are voting until
the final acknowledgment is made at the end, at which time the
full vote will be made public.

SCHEDULE

The original CFV was issued on April 9, and the voting period will
end on May 10, 1993 at 23:59 AEST.
