MAKE SURE that you are not trying to install on too large
a partition. Anything over 2 gig can cause problems.

A lot of the tools use 32 bit math, with 1 bit reserved
for sign. That means the maximum size can be 2147483648
bytes.

Even 2 gig may be too large. There was a limit of 512MB (or 506MB, IIRC)
for the boot partition at some time. But perhaps that was with OS/2 2.1
or so.

Yes, the limitations Warp 3 has were somewhat improved upon with Warp 4 and
further improved with eCS because of the bootable JFS file system eCS uses.
I'm somewhat perplexed as to why you would want Warp 3 also, if you have
successfully installed eCS.

If you would please provide details such as exactly what the error messages
say, or as in the previous case the name of the 'some "filename" ' the
system couldn't find from the diskettes, then maybe someone can offer a
better solution to your troubles.

The limit depends on what file system you are using.

IIRC the DASD drivers prior to Warp 4 fixpak 5 or so had a major limit on
the size of disk they could handle. That's why IBM had to put updated
install floppy images on their Thinkpad FTP sites...

My recollection is that the limits were not the same for FAT and HPFS;
IBM raised both, but not to the same size.

No, this is not true. Waarp 3 when first released had a major bug in
IBM1S506.ADD that meant that it could not handle drives larger than 512MB. Yes,
that's 512MB! There was an updated set of drivers that came out afterwards that
fixed this but then broke again when drives reached 8GB in size. I'd not be that
surprised to find that it broke again when we hit 128GB and I know that
os2dasd.dmd broke when we reached 512GB...

Nothing to do with file systems in this case although they have their own set of
limitations.

How are you trying to install WordPerfect and on what size partition?
I assume this is the DOS version, if so what are the DOS settings in
Warp 3?

To use this group properly you need to get a dedicated news reader -
ProNews/2 from hobbes - and connect to comp.os.os2.misc

Make sure you have the virtualization extensions
enabled in the BIOS and in the VM settings.

It's a setting in VirtualBox for the VM.
Under System/Accelleration, "Enable VT-x/AMD-V"

While on the subject, does "Enable VT-x/AMD-V" work when VirtualBox is
running under OS/2? I tried it once and the system trapped.

No, VT-X / AMD-V is not supported in Vbox/2

Very simple. Go to http://xananews.techtips.br/ and download xananews
which is a dedicated news reader for win XP.

You fill in the information requested when you first start the program
- use a real news server that is local to you (for example I use
news.free.fr which is the news server of my ISP).

Once it has downloaded the list of news groups on the server you
scroll down until you get to comp.os.os2.misc, highlight it and click
on subscribe. You can then close that unless you want to subscribe to
more news groups.

Then highlight the newsgroup and click on 'Get Messages'. I would
recommend that you get messages from 1 April 2013 as this should
include all of your messages.

Once they have downloaded all you have to do to reply is highlight the
message and click the 'Post Reply' button.

Just get a real news reader application and stop using google groups
THEN you will have a full threaded view of what is going on.

At the moment all I see is a post from you that is totally
disconnected from all the other posts so I have no idea what you are
commenting on.

It may be off topic, but it is not abuse to advertise if it just points to
another web site. Ignore it.

If there are none, the answer is obvious, otherwise, if you want to see all
replies, quit going to google groups. Use a dedicated news reader and set
it up to use one of the free servers. aioe.org is a good one. Stay away
from google.com and googlegroups.com

Not knowing what you are replying to all I can say is for you to get a
proper newsreader client, stop using thunderbird and google groups as
I do not see anything you are talking about.

For a newsgroup client use XanaNews [win2000 and XP] or MPGravity [XP
and win 7] then use one of the free news servers and you will not get
the spam. You also need to learn to use the newsgroups.

Not if you use a proper newsreader!

What you are seeing is because you use Google groups. Use a proper
newsreader and go direct to comp.os.os2.misc through a news server and
you will get correctly threaded replies and no odd posts.

So I went to googlegroups to see this for myself.

1) the post in question was put up 5 months ago
2) the post itself DOES NOT contain pornography. The words sex and sexy are
NOT pornographic.
3) all the post does is to invite interested people to click on the
provided link if you WANT to see that type of subject. Again, there is
nothing pornographic about the post!

I clicked on the link just for the hell of it, and what did I find?

"Blog has been removed"

"Sorry, the blog at tamilsexyvidoes.blogspot.com has been removed. This
address is not available for new blogs."

Conclusion: You have no complaint. There is no pornography in the post and
you would not have seen any unless you were seeking it out. When you see a
posting title that has nothing to do with the group subject, don't open the
post. Ignore it! You are not required to read every post that is put up.

Understand, adult pornography is legal in most countries of the world, and
the way to attract people to any site is to advertise. It's just that these
people advertise anywhere and everywhere they can, regardless of being on
topic or not. Links to pornography is not pornography itself, and you won't
see any unless you actually go looking for it.

I think it's time you let this go, get over yourself, and move on.
