You're not wrong. I'm back using plain Windoze for this. I suppose that's
what you get for following Micro$oft's guidelines!

I've printed a 2 page brochure with 7 scanned-in 400dpi pictures on an
IBM 4070 ink jet at 360 dpi under WIN-OS2 with no problems. There's also
line art and lots of text. I have a PS/VP with 8M, OS/2 2.1.

Suggests to me that the Deskjet/Laserjet/PCL drivers are cattle-trucked. No
doubt the IBM ink jet doesn't use PCL...? Or is it something more serious?
I print using the IBM 4070 drivers in "IBM" mode, which is not PCL. I've
never gotten a GPF from PagePlus.

I am using PagePlus Lite, and it prints ok on my HP Deskjet 500. I
always got a GPF with the old version of PagePlus (at random times) but
with the new PagePlus Lite I have never got a GPF.

I don't think it's a printer driver problem as I have both a LaserJet+
clone and an NEC 2200 24-pin dot matrix. The same error occurs if I
print in 300dpi on the Laserjet or in 360x360 on the dot matrix.
Reducing resolution to 180x180 on the dot matrix produces correct
output, reducing resolution on the Laserjet prevents the GPF but the
fonts are all screwed up, this may be a separate problem.
I phoned Serif's support with this problem and they said that it was
almost certainly a memory problem. However I've tried increasing just
about everything I can think of and it has had no effect at all. WIN-OS2
reports about 18MB available memory and 85% resources so I can't really
believe that's a problem. The support people also suggested it might
be a temporary file space problem but as far as I can see I've got heaps
of that too.
So I'm stuck really, anyone know what memory/file resources GDI.EXE
uses?
