Does anyone have any experience with a program called PageKeeper from CAERE? It is
a windows (I know, I know...:) ) program which allows scan archival, which is what
I am ultimately interested in. The install does not work -it tells me not enough memory
and to close some WIN/OS2 apps - no others are running. Even in a straight WIndows
session (not dual booted to Windows, just a plain Windows partition, the same message
remains. -right now it looks unworkable for me. Any other experiences with
this program. Any suggestions for software which can index and search for stored scans on hard drives?

I use unite lite which includes scanning management, scanner drivers, and file
find features that are neat. I use unite lite to drive my hp3c. My normal protocol
is to include a shadow of impos/2 or colorworks in a work directory with scanned
images and then pop them in by dragging.
BTW, unite lite is a native os2 application which relies on os2 conventions for
file management. Its at INdelible Blue.

Thank you, Michael. I also have a 3c and was about to ask if there were OS/2
softwares available to operate the scanner, but you answered my question.
I'll check with IB about Unite Lite.
Thanx

IMPOS/2 will also work with the 3c if you have a scsi card like an adaptec or
future domain instead of the proprietary card that comes with the 3c. Got this
from the impos/2 forum on compuserve. IMPOS/2 costs less than unitelite and
offers some nice image editing tools. IMPOS/2 is also available at INdelible Blue
for less than $100.
Just thot you might like to know you have a few alternatives.

Thank you, Michael, for the info, but had to use the MCA propietary card
because the HP driver would not work with the SCSI adapter with cache that
came with my PS/2 so SCSI is supposed to be standard, but I lost one slot of
my precious three! :) I wonder who wrote the SJIIX driver. Do you know if
Unite Lite would work with this propietary card?

The company I work for, Solution Technology, has developed Twain for
OS/2. Applause and ReView are 32 bit Twain enabled os2 native
applications. If you are interested in document management, ReView is
what you would want. There is a demo up on hobbes in os2/demos. Look for

I don't know about unitelite and that particular card. Cirrus technologies can
usually answer "what if" questions right away on the phone. Their number
is 301/698-1900. If you want to do it with a fax the number is 301/698-1909.
