Actually, I was making "light" (ha ha, that pun hasn't dimmed yet!) of
Constance Knoring's reflection on his past church burning activities.

I was aware of Richard Dawkins' efforts with regard to the "brights"
campaign (thank you for pointing it out though), and I agree with
Christopher Hitchens' perspective that it was "unfortunate" that this
was attempted, for it isn't necessary -- no atheist should feel ashamed
to be "absent of belief in deities and supernatural agents," and those
who go around claiming to be better than everyone else in some way are
most certainly inviting ridicule.

One of the interesting things about atheism is that it has no minimum
or maximum intelligence requirements, and so the label "bright" has the
potential to divide atheists, which is why I am in agreement with
Christopher Hitchens that it was "unfortunate" that Richard Dawkins
(and I believe Sam Harris) promoted this campaign.

They have their reasons, though, and I don't mean to discourage the
effort because, in addition to advocating for freedom of expression, I
also like the idea of promoting atheism regardless of format or context.
