In dos, say using an Autoexec.bat file, tell it to read a directory and depending on the file name, create a variable using that file name? I want to create a generic autoexec.bat file to use on a CDROM bootdisk to boot an image depending on what image is copied onto the same CDRom. Help appreciated. Tim

I think its in Horst's utilities. VAR.BAT which can be called by autoexec or any other, in turn calls VARSET.COM which can turn the file name or whatever into a %variable%
