All games I have which use DOS4GW v. 1.97 constantly crash within
10 minutes of playing, displaying an error message "Page Fault at
<some memory address>" This is folowed by "page granular" and a lot
of numbers which are beyond me, and ends with "Crash address
(unrelocated) ...", which is usually around 1:00045646. I've tried
clean-booting the system, using different version of DOS, using
updated drivers, etc., all to no avail. However, games that use
DOS4GW v. 1.95 seem to run just fine. The problem is, DOS4GW is
usually integrated into the executable, so I can't just substitute
versions. Is there anything I can do?
Any help would be extremely appreciated!!!

I had this problem when loading EMM386.EXE with the RAM feature. When I
put NOEMS in place of that, it quit crashing.
Hope this helps.

I believe your problem stems from a memory configuration problem. You
should try
to reboot your PC with a minimal driver configuration, that is only load
drivers that are necessary to play the game (i.e. CD-Rom driver only). I
have experienced a similar problem and have found that this has fixed it.

You only have to substitute version 1.97 with 1.95. The game will function in
the same way. There are games that come with some versions of DOS4GW because of
the compatibility problems (like your case).
Hope I could help.

Be more specific Gordy,
When DOS4GW 1.97 crashes it is due to memory clashes as Gordy stated.
BUT, remove your EMM386.exe settings or set it at NOEMS as the new DOS4GW
's method of reading your Memory portions is different.. refer to the
readme file
it should tell you the reason.
If you get an interrupt during the game/program with a list of all the mem
clashes..
It is definately your emm386.exe clashes.. remove it!
