Does anyone know of a cross assembler - or even better, a c cross-
compiler for the Motorola 6805 processor? Also a 6805 simulator would be
pretty useful, too.

I've seen a few 6800 products in the SimTel/Garbo lists, but nothing for
the 05 variant.

The 6805 is not a cpu to compile C code for. I have seen a long time ago an
attempt of a C compiler but it was horrible and no wonder !! The structure of
the 6805 doesn't fit high level language at all (VERY limited stack, registers
etc.)

We have used commercial tools for a long time from a company called AVOCET
which make an assembler and simulator for 6805 in all its variants. Also we
have been using a in circuit emulator and assembler from American Automation.

From SINTEL CD (WalnutCreek) :

PS685A12.ZIP B 43389 870530 6805 cross assembler
UASM.ZIP B 68466 870328 Cross assembler for 8051/6805/Z8, w/'C' src

Long time ago, I also get a freeware assembler from
a friend who have an Amiga. The source was given
and I had no problem to recompile it with TC.
It was named DASM and was taken from a Fred Fish
freeware compilation (don't remember the number)

I am not sure that you would be able to find
a C compiler for the 6805. I don't know
if it exist even from pro companies.

I don't have a 6805 simulator but Motorola gave
freely last year a simulator for the new
68HC08 serie which is upward compatible with
the 05 serie.
