DOSSound is a new sound driver for DOS which supports AC'97
controllers. It supports the Intel ICH-ICH7, VIA VT82C686, VT8233/5
and SIS 7012 controllers.

DOSSound provides a programming interface for application programs to
enable these to use AC'97 audio controllers for audio output. However,
DOSSound supports Soundblaster cards and emulations as well.

A wave file player and samples for application programs using DOSSound
are included in the package.

It can be downloaded here: www.georgpotthast.de/dossound

Very nice! Do you have any plans to investigate supporting the "High
definition audio 2.0" spec as well?

HDA is very different from AC97. I want to see to what extend DOSSound
is used first before writing support for that.

Use DOSBox (or DOSEMU or VirtualBox or ...) instead. Hey, it should
(maybe) "mostly" work virtualized. It's just not reasonable to fully
expect modern hardware to be supported in DOS.

However, if you're adventurous, try this:
