Hello

I'm currently looking to restore some old backup 3.5 floppy disks containing old files from my college years in the early 90s. The files have the syntax CPBACKUP.00X.

My research has led me to the following website where I see that I might have success with the following software and / or operating systems.

http://www.oldskool.org/guides/dosbackupshootout

Does anyone know where I can locate the following?

Central Point Backup or
PC Backup or
PC Tools 6 or
PC DOS 7 or
PC DOS 2000

Thank you

There's a link to download PC Tools 6 at the bottom of that page. If you
need unrar for DOS to decompress it you can get it from
http://www.rarlab.com/rar_add.htm

Correction - I did try PC Tools 6 and that software was unable to recognize the CPBACKUP files that I have. I would like to try PC DOS 7 or PC DOS 2000 next. Thank you.

Someone in another vintage computer forum pointed me to this useful site that I am trying out now. http://oscollect.old-dos.ru/OS/PC-DOS/ Thank you.

You can try vetusware.com for old PC Tools programs.

If you are still looking for Old Skool PC Tools software, contact me, I believe I've got the disks knocking around in a cupboard somewhere.
