Does anyone know how to concatenate to the PATH or change
other environment variables for the DOS shell under Win98?
Putting SET PATH commands in autoexec.bat seems to have no
effect, nor can I get Win98 to automatically run my own
batch file when DOS starts. Any help is appreciated!

Use PATH=%PATH%;NEWPATH

where NEWPATH is the directory you want to add.

You want 98 to run a batch when DOS starts? If you mean you want to
run a batch file when starting a DOS prompt, you can edit the dosprompt
properties to run a batch file instead of just command.com and the batch
file can pass certain parameters like your path statement. I usually
like to load doskey as well.

If you mean that you want to run a batch file when 98 starts, just put
the batch in the startup folder.

Thanks. The obfuscating feature of Win98 for me was also that you must
reboot before autoexec.bat changes take effect. This made me think my
changes had no effect.
