My father-in-law has a 286 PC with an old style HD (probably an old
Seagate RLL or MFM but don't know exactly which). He is moving out of
state in a few weeks and needs to park the heads on his drive before
the move. (please no wisecracks <g>)

Does he need software to accomplish this, or can it be done with a
DEBUG call? Any & all help is appreciated.

Please email replies to rsal...@li.net. Thanks. -Russ

I thought some of the older versions of DOS had a PARK command in

Russ,

If you can do a little assembly language INT 13H, function 19h might (?) do
the trick. Else try the little uuencode com file below. It assumes that you
are parking the head on drive C. I tried it, but my driver does not
recognize the command. Either way, you will get a message if it worked or
not. Hope this helps.

A lot of them did, but it was usually the individual pc vendors &
companies like Compaq (Compaq DOS) who supplied it as an add-on.
